Saving Money this Winter with Infrared Heat

Saving money can be difficult while heating your home in the winter with freezing temperatures. Integrating infrared heating is a sure fire way to increase your efficiency, here’s a list of ways to save money this winter.

Zone Controlled Infrared Heat

Infrared heat is the perfect solution to increasing efficiency and gives you heat exactly where and when you need it. Infrared heats the mass in the room making you and everything you touch nice and toasty. Not only does infrared bring you the warmth and comfort of the sun to your couch or bathroom, it ensures you are never using more heat that you need. Furnaces or other conventional HVAC sets one temperature for the entire house and you often end up using excess heat in areas in the house that are not occupied.

Turn The Temperature Down At Night

Turning down the temperature at night or when you’re away from home will help reduce your power bill! Rooms that are not occupied during the day can also follow this rule. Reducing your thermostat by 10 degrees will show a proportional decrease in your power bill by 10%.

Use Nature’s Infrared

Using the sunlight to your advantage during those sunny winter days will help keep your costs down. Opening curtains and blinds during the day when the sun is out will take advantage of the sun heating your room while your Heating Green heaters can take a break. Make sure to close the blinds once the sun goes down to keep the heat in the room.

Avoid Costly Maintenance

Heating Green Infrared Heating Systems do not need maintenance before turning them on for the year. Unlike furnaces or HVAC systems, there is no required maintenance to run them. Eliminate Allergies and Sinus Problems Caused By Your HVAC System!

Infrared heating systems do not move air therefore they do not move allergens through your home. Reducing airborne allergens will help you feel your best through winter and keep those sniffles away!

Ceiling Fans

Did you know that ceiling fans have a summer and winter setting? Depending on the directions of rotation it will help move cool or hot air throughout the room. Summer (counter-clockwise) will help push the hot air up. Running your fan clockwise in the winter will assist with keeping the heat in the room.

Increase insulation

Adding insulation is a great way to get more bang for your buck in the summer and winter! Insulation helps reinforce the envelope of the room reducing heat loss, meaning you can heat up faster and retain heat for a longer period of time. Temporary or permanent insulation can be a good investment that will pay off at any time of the year.

Use these tips to increase your home’s energy efficiency and avoid costly power bills this winter. Keep warm and enjoy the heat!
